Remolineando

Remolineando is and old song, but it remains a favorite for many Christians. Last week I got to see the movie starring Richard Gere as King David. While I watched the part that is shown in the video above where David starts dancing, I thought about how constrained we are to express our inside joy without shame in today's society. While moving the ark of God from the house of Obed -Edom to the City of David, David started to dance with joy and gratitude towards God. Today you rarely see joy in the form of of dance. If we saw someone dancing like David in the streets we would probably say "that's one crazy person"! Imagine if our presidents dance like that in rejoice, well we probably could not even imagine that ... right? The fear of what others will say, and how we value other things before the spirit of joy in God, prevents us from feeling that pure and bold joy like the one David felt.

God is a God of order, and there is time for everything under the sun. Some people claim receiving the Holy Spirit is acting in a disordered form in the church, but that's a topic for another day. What I speak about today is about the joy that we feel for all the blessings that God has given us. Waking up day after day is a blessing. The food on the table, our children, our family, our health, reading this blog, is a blessing and reason to be glad because of God's presence in our lives. While working or cleaning at home dance with joy for the Lord, literally jump for joy and praise. You will recharge with strength and fill your soul with an incomparable joy. We may not have the ark as close as David and the people of Israel, but we do have God near and present in our lives if we open our hearts to him. Praise and exalt the Lord with joy!

2 Samuel 6:20-22

20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”

21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”
