And what are you listening to? ¿Qué estás escuchando?

It is no surprise that a mom can be doing many things at once, and some moms can even listen to what her kids are doing even if she is in the next room. Well I am that type of mom!

My girls may not be little anymore, but I am still attentive to what they do, how they behave, and what they are listening to etc. I always talk to them about being careful to what they listen to, and to choose the songs wisely. I prefer for them to only listen to christian songs, but as young teens they tend to wonder out a little of the safe zone.  Last Friday they happened to be in the living room listening to music. They were listening to Lady Antebellum, and I love this group, but it so happens that while I was doing the dishes, I was carefully listening to the words of the song " I need you now" which I loved too!  But guess what it is not that great of a song for a christian, especially teens, and I'll tell you why.

Are young teens to be out after 1 AM? Should they loose control, or even be a little drunk? NO right? Well with that said this is how the chorus goes and please tell me what you think.

-It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now. Said I wouldn't call but I've lost all control and I need you now. And I don't know how I can do without. I just need you now.

-It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now. Said I wouldn't call but I've lost all control and I need you now. And I don't know how I can do without. I just need you now.

After I listened, I told them to repeat the song to this part and I explained to them what I thought, they rolled their eyes in a way admitting that I was right. I also added,  by the way if  you had a boyfriend or husband would you like him to be drinking and a little drunk when he calls you to tell you he needs you now? Anyway to make this story short, songs do not need to be heavy metal nor lyrically offensive to be wrong to listen to. Just be a little savvy and choose wisely. What we permit ourselves to listen to on a daily basis has a lot of influence in how we act and react in different situations.

Romans 12:2 (GW) - Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

NO ¿verdad?

Y yo no sé cómo puedo prescindir.

Y yo no sé cómo puedo prescindir.

Raíces en Tierra Buena, ROOTS in GOOD SOIL

When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.- Matthews 13:19-23

What type of tree are you? The one planted by the path, on rocky ground, among thorns,or on good ground? Lets plant our roots to bear fruits. Let's carry the word of God in our hearts and  with it sow the love of God to bring all who needs this wisdom closer to Him. He who has good roots, sows with the word and reaps with the Lord.

Have a great week and do not forget the fertilizer... prayer is good for the soul.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

In the book 2 Corinthians the Apostle Paul, expresses his love for the church and reveals about his suffering
in Asia. What I like the most about this chapter is the verse where He assures us that God always comforts us in our sufferings, so that we can also comfort those who suffer. This means that our father in heaven is our strength in times of trouble. He strengthens us and helps us move forward. In our weakness God makes us strong so that we can also comfort our brothers who are also going through a suffering.

It is nice to know we can have been given an inner strength by God for us also to comfort those in need. Do you remember an occasion where you were comfort a brother? Have you found in your church or family someone who comforted you as indicated Paul?

Cuando lees la Biblia (When you read the Bible)

The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even starting for the soul and the spirit, the junctures and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intents of the heart. ~ Hebrews 4:12

When you read the Bible:
1. Your soul would be restored. (Psalm 19:7)
2. You'll find the truth. (John 17:17)
3. Your faith will increase. (Romans 10:17)
4. You will do what is right, fair and balanced. (Proverbs 1: 1-4)
5. You will be equipped with the sword of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 6:17)
