Philippians 2:1-11 |
Como siempre digo, What would Jesus do?
Be Humble
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had, - Philippians 2:3-5
Humility - the quality of being modest, reverential, even politely submissive, and never being arrogant, contemptuous, rude or even self-abasing. Humility, in various interpretations, is widely seen as a virtue in many religious traditions. Why is it so difficult to be humble? God teaches us through his words to be humble. If we claim to be followers of Christ, we must not be arrogant in any way.
I love studying the verses on humility, for we are all victims to be filled with ego at times and may even offend others. How to improve ourselves? By studying the word of God and filling our life with his prescience. We should ask God to let us in humility and to be true to him. If we notice those who are arrogant and think of themselves as superiority, is because they are empty, because if they were full of love they will be sharing in a non-arrogant way full of love and humility. As I always say, What Would Jesus do?
We should always remember that if we have the ability to discern between good and evil, we are already blessed already, and people that we may see as less than us (which we shouldn't), In God's heart we are all equal. We can learn so much from others regardless of race, religion, age and social status. There is always room for growth, and there is so much more to learn out there.
In researching a Bible verse for humility, I came across the following and i thought of sharing it:
It costs so much, sometimes, be as humble as God wants us to be! ....... We like so much to defend our rights, so often we boast of our talents and skills and even the titles we have obtained, considering ourselves higher than others. How often do you despise another because of race, color, social status, academic preparation, etc. considering yourself superior to everyone? How many times you give free rein to your arrogance and pride because you consider yourself untouchable?
